At 550,000... is This The World's Most Expensive Tuna Sandwich
HotPropertyInvestor.com has been advertising the World's
Most Expensive Tuna Sandwich. A bargain at 550,000!
Apparently it's 'A little nibbled and slightly stale but
generally in good order. Made with budget brown bread, real
dairy butter and lightly seasoned with a mix of mayo' But
this icing on the cake it that it comes with a magnificently
appointed detached three or four bedroomed house set on The
New Forest National Park Boundary just minutes from local
beaches and magnificent views of the Isle of Wight Needles
The property is superbly presented following enlargement
and extensive refurbishment an extremely well appointed detached
residence in a delightful rural location overlooking adjoining
farmland.
The particulars certainly look impressive. There's a magnificent
sitting room with vaulted ceilings and oak floors, large
dining room and conservetory. It boasts a hand crafted kitchen,
a master bedroom with luxury en-suite. An oak framed timber
office and further luxury bathroom.
Set on the edge of The New Forest which once, centuries
ago, was the sole province of Kings, Queens and Nobility,
it was the concept of William the Conqueror who created the
New Forest in 1079 on the site of a former, very spartan
Saxon hunting ground. Today, the forest is the playground
of tourists, who come from all over England, Europe and beyond,
to explore the wild woodland scenery, where amongst other
royal personages, King Henry VIII and his court, enjoyed
a good day's sport.
This all seems an amazing gift when buying the world's most
expensive tuna sandwich said Kevin Mason of HotPropertyInvestor.com
Full details of the sandwich can be seen at http://www.hotpropertyinvestor.com/tuna_sandwich.html
Bay Auctions BBC Memorabilia for Children in Need.
Online marketplace eBay.co.uk has teamed up with the BBC
to auction off iconic items from TV history to the public
online, in a bid to and raise money for the BBCfs 2005 Children
in Need campaign.
The BBC is raiding its cupboards of forgotten items and
putting them onto eBay, launching the gGreat Big Bid,h live
now at www.bbc.co.uk/greatbigbid.
As part of the Great Big Bid, people have already bid on
a number of items, which include Ronnie Corbettfs chair from
the Two Ronnies, Kat Slaterfs wedding dress from Eastenders
and a signed script from the Archers.
All of the proceeds are going to the BBC Children in Need
campaign.
There will be new items added as the campaign kicks off,
including a signed picture of the Dalai Lama, a wax figure
of Tim Henman and a first edition of gHarry Potter and The
Goblet of Fire,h signed by JK Rowling.
The BBC and eBay are also calling on Brits across the country
to have a clear out for BBC Children in Need.
The eBay-powered Great Big Bid website enables anyone to
sell unwanted items and donate some, or all, of the proceeds
straight to the appeal.
Sally Deighan, chief executive, BBC Children in Need said:
gSelling online is such a brilliant way for people to raise
money. This is the sort of thing people are already doing
at home or on their office computers at lunchtime, so there's
no excuse not to get involved.

Going Going Go with Online Auctions.
Want to know how to make last-minute steals seem even more
like burglary? governmentauctionsuk.com reports on a new
way to bag a bargain holiday online
gI do lots of work at home on my computer, so itfs easy
for me to keep tabs on the site,h says 60-year-old Ian Davies
from Droylsden, near Manchester. gI note when the bidding
is going to finish and, five minutes before the end, Ifll
make my move.h
Ian is one of a growing number of people who purchase holidays
by auction over the Internet, attracted by the cheap deals
available and the buzz of bidding against others for packages.
He buys holidays from Thomson on the site www.ebay.com.
gIfve bought nine holidays by auction in the past two years
and I wouldnft do it any other way now,h he said. gIfm semi-retired,
so we can travel at short notice and make use of the bargains.
My wife and I have just had two weeks in Sorrento, half board,
for a total of 180. You canft get much better than that.h
Ian says he has a pretty good system for winning auctions.
gI make my maximum bid five minutes before the auction closes,h
he says. gBids go up in units of 10 so if, for example,
I bid 300 and it turns out that the next highest is 220,
then the site will only take 230 off you.
gIt works pretty well, although you can now buy software
which will automatically lodge a bid 30 seconds before the
end of the auction, which doesnft give you any time to come
back with a counter bid, so you miss a few as well.h
Travel companies use auctions to sell holidays that, for
a variety of reasons, are difficult to offload via traditional
methods. They often prefer selling so-called edistressed
stockf in this way, as offering discounts through travel
agents can give the impression that everything is cheap and
diminish the chances of selling anything at full price.
Auction buyers therefore find themselves staying in properties
where operators have spaces to fill. All kinds of holidays
are available on auction sites, but inevitably there are
lots of last minute packages to Mediterranean destinations
in the quiet months of May, June, September and October.
Packages to popular hotels during the peak school holiday
months of July and August are harder to find.
The standard of accommodation is stated on the website,
but the name of the apartment or hotel will often be revealed
only when holidaymakers arrive at the resort.
TUI, which owns Thomson, sells last-minute Mediterranean
packages to Spain, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Ibiza through
its own websites.
Anyone wanting to bid for a holiday must lodge their credit
card details and, in the event of their bid being successful,
the money will be charged to their account.
Sometimes holidays have a reserve price and bidders can
keep returning to the site to trump their rivals or lodge
a eproxy bidf, which will keep increasing to beat anyone
elsefs offer, up to a maximum stated level.
Graham Donohue, the head of new media at TUI, said the auctions
were attracting a loyal following.
gWefre probably selling about 200 holidays per week between
the two sites and you can tell there are a lot of people
who have bought many holidays on auction,h he said.
gWhen we sell holidays from 1, without a reserve price,
it creates a bidding frenzy, but we donft do that with all
the holidays, because we have to make sure we can get a minimum
price for some of them.
gOur auction holidays are distressed stock which is not
selling well, but that doesnft matter to people who are looking
for a good deal. In September, we sold a two-week package
to Corfu, with two star bed and breakfast accommodation and
flights from Gatwick, on auction. Somebody picked it up the
holiday, for two people, for a total of 80. I donft think
youfll find anything as cheap as that in a travel agent.h
One Internet retailer uses auctions to sell luxury holidays.
Seven night packages in five-star star resort in the Caribbean,
which usually retail for around 2,000 per person, can be
snapped up for half that price.
Daniel Britton, the auction manager at www.lastminute.com
said: gAuctions also work well for very specialist products
like this. A small number of people want these holidays and
are prepared to bid against each other to get them.
gWe have worked with an operator called Travel Luxury for
the past four or five years selling these trips and it has
been very successful. The whole auction business online has
grown massively on the back of www.ebay.com and people are
now much more comfortable about buying all sorts of products
in this way.
gAs far as the public is concerned, if you are prepared
to be flexible and travel at short notice you can get a great
deal and buying by auction can be a lot of fun.h

Vcheck On eBay
Vehicle Data Systems (VDS) has announced a winter sale of
3000 Vchecks to be held on auction website www.ebay.co.uk.
Customers can start with bids of 3 or opt for a buy-it-now
price of 4.95 per vehicle status check instead of the usual
19.95 fee.
The Vcheck service verifies all DVLA information about a
vehicle and looks at the write-off records from the Association
of British Insurers and official Police stolen vehicle data
from police forces across the UK. Vcheck confirms that the
vehicle matches the data held by the DVLA and whether or
not the vehicle has been stolen or written off.

Gillows sideboard sold for 4,000.
LOCATION may be important when it comes to selling property.
But the property itself and what it contains is also of paramount
importance to auction goers.
And so it was when Bloomfield Auctions sold the contents
of The Cairn, Greenisland. "We had a really spectacular
sale," said auctioneer George Gribben.
"The sale contained 450 lots and there were only five
items remaining unsold at the end of the day.
"Furniture was in great demand and, of course, there
were many fine quality lots."
Leading the furniture prices was a Gillows inlaid sideboard
which came under the hammer at 4,000.
Three paintings by Ulster artist Ken Hamilton fetched 6,000
while a Victorian watercolour featuring tugs and boats in
a harbour went at 2,500.
Other prices included: quantity of cast iron garden furniture
1,600; secretary bookcase 1,600; long cased clock, 1,500;
regency couch, 1,300; duchess dresser, 1,200; art deco
living room suite 1,150; pair watercolours featuring Italian
lakes, 1,000; George III cellaret, 950; Victorian summerhouse,
900 and rosewood overmantle, 700.
Around the sales
Ross's: the Jack Packenham studio sale saw a 100% sell out
with all 175 lots finding new homes.
'Back to Reality', an acrylic on board sold for 2,600 while
'The Kite Flyer' made 2,000.
Morgans: a collection of part wall clocks went for 1,067
and a mahogany cased 'wag at the wall' clock made 380.
Other lots included: pair of mahogany beds, 210; oil painting,
still life, 180; midshipman's journal, HMS Orion, 160;
duchess dressing table.
Ross's basement: Ken Hamilton Girl Reading, 4,500; Neil
Shawcross, Still Life 2,800; 19th century mahogany miniature
hunt table, 720; 4-piece silver tea service, Glasgow, 540.
