It’s Peter Parfait here with a simply stunning deal, all on its own. Actually, you just won’t believe it; I didn’t, to begin with.

I had dinner last week with Dave Ames of Harlequin Property/Loans Made-Easy. I’ve been following Dave’s progress for some time, as I do like to check people out as much as possible. The state of Goa is a tiny area of land on the west coast of India. Despite its size, this evergreen destination is a holidaymaker’s paradise. With its lush vegetation, a dazzling array of flora and fauna, world-class beaches, churches and temples, feasts and festivals and, above all, hospitable people with a rich cultural background, Goa has the ideal tourist profile. In fact, such a rich cultural and natural heritage means you can safely say that Goa has it all. Its amazing climate means its pulling power is a year-round phenomenon, too.

Goa’s much more than just beaches and sea, though. It’s also blessed with a comprehensive network of rivers, which thrive equally well on tourism. Take a look at their emerald green waters and it’s not difficult to see why. Ferry your way up any one of these and you’ll pass the fishermen who still earn a living from their waters. As you continue your journey, you might just come across one of the small white-sanded banks, more popularly referred to as ‘coco’ or ‘sunny’ beaches. If for no other reason, stop a moment to comb these beaches for their amazing variety of shells.

If you’re in the north of Goa, neither should you miss going to Arambol, a large village that sits comfortably along the water’s edge. To access Arambol, you can ferry across the estuary from Chapora village and do the 1-hour walk along the coast into the village. Alternatively, drive through the Casuarine plantations and the brick-red hills via a stunning 2km-long winding road. The approach road from Majorin, lined with swaying coconut palms, looks even more fresh and beautiful in the monsoon season.

The beach at Arambol is simply stunning. Tiny bays lead to a second larger bay, behind which sits a small, freshwater pool. Here, lazing in its currents, it’s easy to forget all your cares: take a mud bath instead, or else a spot of leisurely swimming.

Goa is known as the ‘Jewel of India’ and it’s easy to see why. The district is ‘studded’ with some amazing temples and churches, silent testament to the intense religious history of the diverse people who’ve lived here throughout the ages. A pilgrimage to Goa is invariably going to be a unique experience.

Arpora, in the north of Goa, is the site of a new development, Little Baga, which sits close to the white sand beaches of the warm Indian Ocean and just 25 minutes away from Goa’s main airport at Dabolim.

Baga is a small but perfect beach, located between its two more famous cousins, Colva to one side and Calangute to the other. It’s a far better place to enjoy some restful moments if you don’t like the hustle and bustle of Colva or Calangute. And although Baga may be a tiny fishing beach, it still has international appeal.

The gated community of Little Baga is already under construction and will be completed by the middle of 2006. The site will then enjoy full recreational facilities, including tennis courts, swimming pool, jogging track, children’s play park, clubhouse, shops, a thriving market and restaurants offering cuisine from all over the world.

Goa’s cost of living is a fraction of that in the UK, but in the housing market the capital appreciation on property in the area has risen between 20% and 30% per annum. With more and more people finding this wonderful holiday destination, now benefiting from direct flights from the UK, rental yields are improving annually.

When was the LAST time you did something for the FIRST time!

I’m definitely, absolutely, positively, unquestionably, undeniably, categorically certain that you DON’T trudge through your day just waiting for the ‘little hand’ to ping on the appointed hour of your daily departure.

Why?

Because if you were that type of person – you wouldn’t have subscribed to tgiMondays and you wouldn’t be reading this message – right?

That said…

Do you, like me, realise that just sometimes in the day you find yourself doing things that you’ve done before?

There is a certain degree of repetition about the tasks you perform?

Well – that’s fine and dandy most of the time, because that’s probably how we attract our dosh.

Either someone else or we - have recognised that there are actions that we’re good at, they do produce results and therefore it’s natural that we do them – regularly.

However

When you glance back at a typical day or week or month with this question (When was the LAST time you did something for the FIRST time?) exciting your mind – might you stutter:

“ Uh – I can’t remember!”

Just think if EVERY DAY – you and I did something for the FIRST time!

WOW!

That would shine life; even more exciting than it is now wouldn’t it?

This will remind me that each and every day I need to do something that I haven’t tackled before.

It needn’t be a major task – or a leap across the chasm of faith; though it might be sometimes.

It can simply be:

Taking a different route to oft-visited places
Leaving my emails till lunchtime
Having desert before dinner
Writing with my left hand (though I have tried that before)
Having the phone to my right ear
Having a meaningful conversation with the kids!!

And anything else I can think of…

It’s true that young children are always doing ‘stuff’ for the ‘first’ time - they’re experiencing the world and all it has to offer every day.

But…

Sometimes; older people still keep chomping through the same older stuff – is that why they get older?

Maybe then, just maybe, doing new ‘stuff’ is what keeps us younger.
