ONSPEED Releases Onbidder For Ebay
Auctions.
ONSPEED, the company behind the software that promises to
speed up your dial-up connection via nothing more than some
simple software is hoping to do the same for eBay customers
with its latest application – Onbidder.
The Onbidder service promises to give you the advantage
in winning any eBay auctions, at the best possible price,
even on dial-up connections. The software will automatically
take care of your eBay bidding for you, at the last second.
All you do is just place your maximum bid in advance, and
Onbidder will do the rest. It's so easy to use.
Just seconds before the auction you're bidding on closes,
Onbidder, working in the same way as Bidnapper, becomes active
and places the lowest bid possible to automatically outbid
any competition - closing the sale at the best price. Because
it makes the bid at the last moment, other people don't have
time to react. Once your bid is made, the item is as good
as yours.
Onbidder costs just £19.99 for a 12-month subscription
and works seamlessly with eBay.

Property Auctions Made Simple.
The process of selling property at auction should be made
smoother by the publication of a new set of common auction
conditions.
Auctions are becoming an increasingly popular way of selling
property, with the top 20 commercial and residential auctioneers
seeing a 16 per cent increase in property sold at auction
in 2004.
To ensure the auction process is smooth for all involved,
the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics) has updated
its Common Auction Conditions publication.
First published in 2002, the conditions were devised by
buyers, sellers, solicitors and auctioneers, to make the
legal process underpinning auctions easier to understand.
Rics says the speed and simplicity of property auctions
is behind their increasing popularity.
Charles Smailes, chair of the National Association of Estate
Agents (NAEA) agrees.
"Selling property at auction has become more popular
as consumers become increasingly aware of its benefits," he
said.
"Auctioning has the advantages of certainty and transparency – when
the hammer falls, the deal is done – and this can make
selling a property at auction an attractive proposition."
But he warned that the auction market is not immune from
the same conditions that affect the wider housing market.
"For example, the suitability of a property auction
must be assessed and the motivation of the sellers taken
into account," he added.
"An unusual property or an owner looking for a quick
sale may do well to auction their property. However, a property
owner that has not received sound advice from an expert who
understands their situation may be disappointed with the
result."
Rics auction conditions are used by most auction houses
and vendors' solicitors as a common standard across the industry,
and the new conditions come into effect this week.
Rics' Richard Auterac said: "Rics have ensured that
the conditions have evolved to meet the current needs of
the marketplace and stem from the belief that professionals
active in the auction market should act as innovators and
examples of best practice for the entire real estate transactional
market."

PRINCE DONATES OWN ARTWORK TO AUCTION.
A Devon wildlife charity was today eagerly looking ahead
to a prestigious fundraising auction after the Prince of
Wales handed over one of his own artistic creations to help
support the cause.
Prince Charles has donated one of his own lithographs of
the River Dart to be sold at an art auction on October 15
in aid of the Devon Wildlife Trust (DWT).
The Royal masterpiece will join 60 other artworks for the
sale at Rendells 'Stonepark auction rooms in Ashburton to
help protect the future of the River Dart.
The signed lithograph, which measures 12 inches by 16 inches,
is the Prince's proof of Glen Gairn in Aberdeenshire.
Clive Morgan, from Rendells, said: "We are delighted
to be able to host this important event for the Devon Wildlife
Trust particularly as the future of the River Dart and its
catchment area is so important to the surrounding countryside
in which we operate."
Well known local artist Simon Drew leant his support to
the project by asking fellow creatives to donate their work.
He said: "We appealed to local artists who have drawn
inspiration from the river and its surroundings to give something
back - a chance to help protect wildlife by capturing the
spirit of the Dart or Dartmoor its wildlife or landscape.
"Our sincere thanks go to all those who have taken
the time to support this project and to donate some really
interesting pieces."
DWT fundraising officer, Amanda Sherwin, said: "We
have had a great response with donations from artists such
as Robin Armstrong, John Rochester and Jilly Sutton.
"We hope to raise in the region of £7,000 on
the day, so please come along and support local artists and
wildlife.
"The range of items on offer is very varied from paintings
to ceramic pots, wooden automata to felt wall hangings, so
there should be something for everyone."
Money raised from the auction will go towards the DWT's
Dart Catchment Project which aims to restore habitats, tackle
pollution hotspots and mobilise local people to keep the
Dart safe for future generations.
The DWT still needs to raise more than £50,000 to
fund the project, which finishes at the end of next year.
For further information or a catalogue go to Rendells website
at www.rendells.co.uk or contact them by phone on 01364 653017.

Wildlife Trust's website at www.devonwildlifetrust.org

Online Auctions Raise Security Fears.
THE PRICE FOR A pair of World Cup final tickets had risen
to more than £1,000 on eBay, the internet auction site,
an illustration of the excitement and concern that will dominate
the next seven months. Fifa has already warned supporters
to “steer well clear of such offers,” but England’s
confirmed participation in Germany next summer both heightens
anticipation and raises security issues.
Qualification for the latter stages of a tournament that
can be reached in comfort from these shores will spark a
frenzy for seats that the games’s authorities will
struggle to control. Fifa has already sold out its allocation
of block tickets for England’s group matches, leaving
fans with few legitimate options if they wish to see Sven-Göran
Eriksson’s side in live action.
The FA, which will be granted only 8 per cent of what Fifa
terms “purchasable tickets” for every first-round
game, will begin the sales process once the draw for the
finals is made on December 9. Applications will be accepted
only from the 25,000 members of englandfans, the official
supporters’ club, of which membership is capped and,
in any case, demand is certain to outstrip supply.
Supporters can also apply to attend individual games via
the Fifa website when up to 300,000 tickets are made available
between December 12 and January 15 next year. This will be
the third sales period — the first two, which have
already elapsed, were heavily oversubscribed — and
the remaining two opportunities to buy tickets stretch from
February 15 to April 15 and May 1 to July 9. Chances of success
are slim.
Now that Eriksson’s squad are guaranteed to be present,
there will be consternation at Fifa’s method for allocating
tickets. If England were to play a group match in Berlin — the
venue for the final — the FA would receive only 4,500
tickets for a stadium with a capacity of more than 74,000.
At the Franken-Stadion in Nuremburg, the smallest ground,
fewer than 2,600 tickets would be released.
It is why the internet and touts may be seen as attractive
alternatives, although tickets — official prices for
which begin at €35 (about £24) and rise to €600
(about £413) — are personalised, random identity
checks will be made at stadium turnstiles and those that
do not match will not be accepted. Fifa has said that it
is “considering legal action” to prevent sales
such as those on eBay, but the auctions are continuing.
In tandem with the Government, the FA is keen to ensure
that the improved standards of supporter behaviour that have
been a feature of the past two international tournaments
are maintained. Members of englandfans are vetted, while
there are 3,000 football banning orders in effect, compared
with around 100 before Euro 2000, when significant outbreaks
of hooliganism left England threatened with expulsion.
The identity of England’s opponents will be discovered
in Leipzig on December 9, and 24 of the 32 teams who compete
in Germany are now known. Among the usual, established names,
such as Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Italy and Holland, are
four African nations making their World Cup debuts in the
shape of Angola, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Togo. Iran have been
tipped by Franz Beckenbauer as good enough to “ make
it through to the quarter-finals”.
As a dress rehearsal, Germany staged the Confederations
Cup this summer, after which the federal government announced
that “all 16 matches passed off without notable security
incidents”.
According to Sepp Blatter, the Fifa president, “Germans
will have the opportunity to rectify certain clichés
and preconceived ideas,” and the same applies to the
England fans who sang about “German bombers” at
Old Trafford. It is a sign of a changing world that when
the World Cup is in full swing, airspace around the 12 stadiums
will be severely restricted.
UP FOR GRABS
WANT TO GO TO THE World Cup finals to watch England? It
may be easier to invest your cash in a big-screen TV.
There are only two outlets for tickets, the FA and Fifa.
The FA’s 8 per cent per game allocation will go to
the official England supporters’ club — englandfans — which
has had its membership capped at 25,000. Members are awaiting
notification of when to apply for tickets for England matches
(the application dates are still to be decided).
Everyone else must take pot luck. There will be three chances
of entering the lottery for tickets to individual games via
post, fax or the internet. The first sales window opens on
December 12 and closes on January 15.
The next opportunity to get tickets will be between February
15 and April 15 and remaining seats will go on sale on May
1 and continue to be available until the tournament reaches
its climax on July 9. Details can be found at www.fifaworldcup.com.
The Positive Club
Beauty is. There's no need to force it, or strive for it,
take it, possess it or consume it.
Beauty is here when you open yourself to it. Beauty is here
when you see it, appreciate it, live and love and express
it.
In the grand experiences and in the small moments, beauty
is. Beauty touches something within you that words can never
adequately describe and the mind can never fully explain.
Remember often to allow life's beauty to touch you, to fill
you. And you will become more creative, effective, peaceful
and purposeful.
Beauty is, here and now and anytime you choose to live it.
Though there is often much trouble and sorrow in life, there
is always more beauty to be lived.
Beauty is, and the more you live it the more abundant beauty
becomes. Let life's beauty shine brightly through you.
